Introduction to the Creative Industries


This foundation course will give you basic music, video and games production skills, and start you thinking about possible careers in the creative industries.


What will I be doing?

To get ahead in the creative industries, you need plenty of skills. This course will get you started. You will learn the basics of how a recording studio works, how to use video production equipment, how to design computer games and how to DJ. You will also learn other basic skills that you will need to succeed in the industry, like communication, managing finances and IT.

How do I get onto the course?

As well as a willingness to learn, you will need to have enthusiasm for the subject, basic problem-solving skills and the ability to work in groups. If you are interested, please contact us to arrange an interview.

How do I pass the course?

Your tutors will observe your practical skills and mark your written projects.

How long is the course?

One academic year, starting in September.

Where will it be held?

At the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies, Nottingham.

How much does it cost?

Students aged 16-18 on entry to the course are not required to pay course fees. Means-tested funding may be available to adults on some benefits and can be based on previous qualifications. What can I do next?

Completing the course will enable you to progress onto the BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Music Technology or BTEC L2 Diploma in Creative Media Production.
